Summer Arts Workshop for 5th, 6th and 7th graders

Location: At our backyard.

Sessions: Sessions run from Monday through Thursday from 9:30am to 3:30pm.


Session 1: July 1 - 4. Create: Puppets. Introduction to professional puppet making with sculpting, mold-making, paper-mache and sewing. $175 + $50 material fee

Session 2: July 8 - 11. Create: Musical Instruments. Introduction to how to make rawhide rattle, frame drum, ocarina and other natural noisemakers. $175 + $50 material fee

Session 3: July 15 - 18. Create: Drawing. Introduction to figure drawing, botanical drawing, perspective drawing and the use of symbols in art. $175+ $50 material fee

Session 4: July 22 - 25. Create: Music. Introduction to music theory, sheet music, playing recorder, guitar, piano and various drums. We will explore how to read music, songwriting and playing in a band together. $175+ $50 

On the last day of each session: optional camp out night.

Fridays in July: July 5, 12, 19, 26. Create: Art in the Woods. Introduction to hiking as a plein air artist, creating art in various locations.This class will meet at various trailheads at the Minnewaska Preserve every Friday in July. We will carry our art supplies, hike, observe and paint nature in nature. Overnight camping in the woods on the last Friday. In case of rain, Art in the Woods will be postponed to the following day. $135 + $50 material fee 

Please arrive on time. Part or all of the classes will be held outside, so plan accordingly. Please pack lunch and drinks for yourself. Water, tea or light snacks will be available. Cellphones and iPads will be collected at the beginning of the workshop and given back at 3:30pm. 

Instructor: Katalin Pazmandi   artist/musician, with the help of Brian Gardner  natural healer/musician.
